If you had the money...

Featured Replies

Years ago I had a 748S for a few months (on loan from work) and I used to amuse myself by, every time somebody looked it over and asked about it (which was pretty much every time you parked it up), inventing a different bulls**t story about it. Not one of 'em seemed to twig that I was talking cobblers, lol.

My dad had a few ducatis. Not borrowed though. Hes just not the right kind of person. Hes not arsed what peopls think. Just buys stuff cos he likes it

Ive heard much ****e off em. Heard it from a good source that one was buying part worn tyres to make it look like he could ride.

Personally. Im not arsed. Ill ride and have fun on the vfr. Theres no image thing there, but if thsy cant ride theyll get overtaken as i giggle in my helmet. Simples

I didn't expect to like that 748S, but I really enjoyed riding it. It was rough around the edges, had just been resprayed in red (it was a grey one originally) with no decals (they'd ordered the wrong ones - decals for a grey bike, rather than a red one, but there was just something about it that made you feel good, you couldn't help checking you reflection out when passing shop windows, lol. It was slow in a straight line, but it handled beautifully, not a quick steering bike, and needed more input than you'd expect to get it turned, but once you had it over it was so precise and confidence inspiring (and the Rennsport rubber gripped like a very grippy thing). Wheelied lovely too. I only borrowed it cos it was already outside one afternoon, and the gaffer asked if I fancied taking it home for the weekend, so I thought why not? I had it for three months and did over 3000 miles on it, before he asked for it back, and I doubt many 748s have been so wantonly abused, lol. Ever since I've always wanted a go on a really sorted 748R, they must be sublime.

Damn thing got me 3 points on my licence though, grrr.

A zx7r is only good for looking at. Good in its day but that was a long time ago. Same goes for the original blade, no power just no weight at the time. Now you get 80hp more with less weight on some modern sports bikes.

I've had plenty of bikes and the one I'd have again is a ZX12R but it's heavy so that's for looking at and an S1000RR for the road.

You're not the first person to tell me that about the ZX7r. Still love 'em though.
