Got temporarily a Skoda Fabia !

Featured Replies

Hi! I went to my local Skoda dealer today because I know someone who works there as head mechanic because my water pump plastic crappy impeller died and my car started to overheat (probably similar problems on Octavia vRS also?).

Anyway... I've got a Fabia 1.4 16v (so called) Sport until I get mine back.

My impressions of it, is that it's all right, plastics inside could be better (similar quality to Ibiza MK4's I've driven), I'm fairly tall @ 6'3 and it would have been nice to have a foot rest to put my size 12 left foot on!

When I did place my left foot away to the left, it got stuck behind the clutch!

Engine is a bit lifeless for a 'Sport' (but it does come in under 135bhp less than mine!).

And what is with the spec? cd player, but no central locking?

Also when I lock it (with the poncey key) the courtesy light stays on far too long.

Overall though, not bad, I'm sure if it had the Fabia vRS with Revo, it would be a totally different car.

Which reminds me for my next car, I was looking at an Octavia vRS, but is the vRS a 200bhp 2.0 FSI? but also very interested in a 170bhp 2.0 TDI, is there one on the horizon ?

Then again a new Leon with 2.0 TDI 170 would be nice, but then again decent Seat Dealers near me are dissapearing quickly!

Welcome to Briskoda. :D Yes, the water pump problem affects the Octavia line-up too and can cause expensive problems if the overheating isn't noticed quicxkly enough.

sounds about right... although its the "sport" its based more on styling not speed.

They've dropped the 1.4 for the 1.2 12v on the sport now. As u mentioned CD player but no central locking... idea is to aim for the "younger person" who wants a sporty looking car with very low insurance. Remote locking can be had as part of a plus pack anyway i believe.

Have to say i like the red seat belts and tints on new sports

Hiya Rob :)

The 1.2 Sport is a much better option than the 1.4 but hey it got you home ;)

Been looking at the price and kit of the 1.2 sport it looks a great deal compared with the base classic 1.2. I quite like the 1.2 engine.

Hey Rob,

The new Octavia vRS has exactly the same engine as the new Golf GTI, so yes, 200bhp 2.0FSI powerplant.

1.2 is one of those you have to drive, its a big suprise for most.

Welcome to Briskoda

You're right - a Fabia vRS is a totally different car to the sport, I like to think of it as a model in its own right (so does Parkers, for example! ).

The 1.4 Sport really is flawed, the 1.2 is a massive improvement, and I for one am a member of the 1.2 fan club!

ow do rob,i had a fabia for a few days last year, couldn't wait to get the octavia back, mainly based on room,2 little kids 2 adults,no room for the pram in the boot,so it had to go across the back of the seats,3 bags of groceries and the boot was full. :(
