New wing?

Featured Replies

I've a dent in my driver side wing and was wondering what's my best option?

Depends whether its filler repairable with a few bangs with the hammer from inside the wing (if required) or a new wing needs to be fitted.

If your able then try and repair it yourself, have a stab at it, you can't make it worse than it is already.

What colour is car and how old?

Paint could have faded, so blending-in colour paint match will/ could be tricky.

If you totally jigger the wing then professional help is always available somewhere..

I was thinking this, are they bolted on? Mine has a rust patch and figure it would be easier to replace than treat, paint and blend in.

It's a golden colour, and 2005 so probably faded slightly. It's only a minor dent, I may give it a stab myself, any guides about?

They are bonded on down the pillar though, even though they are bolt on.

Right pain to remove without damaging, you need a very sharp scraper to cut threw the sealer,if you try and lever the wing off to break the bonding you will knacker the wing.

Not a problem for the knackered one your removing, but the replacement needs to be straight!

I've done it to mine, wing off ebay from a breaker for £25 :)

Besides a flat and ball type hammer, you'll need a solid flat metal block to help flattened metal as it's being knocked-out from the inside of the wing.

Of course filler, sanding materials to level filler, wet & dry grade 2000 to flatten and blend-in surrounding paint work.

Rubbing compound to blend-in surrounding outer paint-work.

Masking tape, and try to use brown paper as newspaper can leave print ink marks, to mask outer areas off..

Paint, you need to know the colour, usually a paper sticker near spare-wheel well, will tell you the code, or, give Skoda vehicle details to locate colour.

Good luck..

That imo unless you have experience is a total waste of money.

A dented wing looks better than a bodge job repaired one!

Has the dent cracked the paint, if not get on to your local paintless dent removal bloke, they can work wonders :)

Paint is intact, I'll look around, thanks.

I'll give it a miss and consider my options haha, although the perfectionist in me will keep me at it for hours, I'll probably do it more harm than good. I'll put up with my ugly dent for now, but it's in my wish list.

Many thanks.
