You've gotta laugh

Featured Replies

So there I was, just finished work for the day and looking forward to my 40 mile drive home (as I'm still new to the vRS I really do look forward to it). Anyway at the start of my journey I negotiate a set of traffice lights in a dual-carriage way format. Only myself and 2 other cars (it was late), both of which pull into the inside lane with me following and choosing the outside lane (as you do). I am now sat waiting for the lights to change to green and I'm gone, and it would appear the fella in the Ford Galaxy bread van type car next to me intends to do as well, with him edging forward. Then the lights change.... throttle down, clutch up (oh yeah I got that right) and..... kangaroo jump and I stall it!!! meanwhile Mr bread van (oh and the guy behind in the escort van) speed off into the darkness, I'm guessing with fairly large smiles on their faces.

Lessons learnt -

1. Both the Ford Galaxy and Ford Escort vans are very, very fast cars.

2. If you are going to make a mistake; do it at night with limited audience.

Oh and make sure your car is in first gear and not third like me!!

And finally, yes I do still feel like a plumb. (and not to eat)

Did something identical to that a couple of weeks back. Luckily as I drive a diesel it did pull away in 3rd, but not quite as vigorously as I was expecting. Knocked it into first and gave it some welly and managed to retrieve some self-respect (well as much as a Mondeo-driver has :o )

Chris

Always best to be in first - might have got away with it in 2nd. 3rd? ahem, nope.

You'd probably picked on a Galaxy GSI and a cossy conversion van. ;)

Sure it wasn't a VW Sharon VR6???

Quite. Come to think of it, it was dark... that new Bugatti is a bit boxy...

shame you havn't got the new Audi RS4. That thing can pull away in any gear you want. Trust me.... I'm off down to silverstone next week for day driving one round the stowe circuit.

Mind you a bit different to vRS though

they do em with a 2.8V6 and a PD150, but nothing overly sporty

I had a similar situation when the Intercooler pipe blew off except I also had a big big bang and plenty of black smoke.
