What Bar should the boost be??

Featured Replies

Can anyone help please, I eventually fitted my boost gauge last night, but i have noticed when engine is at idle, cruising, it reads -0.5bar.

on no accelleration, it reads about -0.7bar.

when on boost it just manages short of +0.5bar. is this correct??

What should be the max boost for a Octavia 1.8t 4x4???

Thanks

Well, I'd have though it should read zero at idle and 1 bar(ish) on boost... Sounds like a duff guage to me. I think it should also read a vacuum between gear changes?

I know that there will be a pressure drop on idle as the engine is sucking in air, so that's fine, it's just the actual max boost figure i'm after. thanks though Devon.

Should be in vacuum at idle and if the car is standard then 0.5 bar is about right when on boost. Sounds fine to me.

vRS with 180bhp is 0.8bar max boost and a remapped 1.8T will be 1bar+

Thanks Eddy, it is standard so all seems fine. thanks

Yup, even tho mine is remapped I have gauges that show vaccum when idle or even before the turbo spools up. On full boost I see 20 psi (1.4 bar?) thats with a revo 4bar remap BTW. I would say yours seems fine.

Mine holds 0.5 bar (7psi)
