Just saying hello - I'm new to Skodas...

Featured Replies

Hello all...

I'm due to pick up a 61-Plate Skoda Octavia 1.6 TDi this week after 9 years and 9 months driving a Mondeo 1.8 Duratec Petrol. As it's now gone over halfway to the moon (without ever breaking down and meticulous maintenance I might add) I decided it was time for a change.

I'm looking forward to being a part of the community, having researched things like "Maxidot" "Bolero" "VAGCOM" "FISCON" and "VCDS" over the last couple of days... you can probably tell that I'm looking to get Bluetooth integration up and running and the car has no Aux-In or USB slot as far as I can tell! I'll leave that for the correct forum (so don't worry mods - I'll not mither in here!)

I'm based in Bamber Bridge, Preston and it might be handy to find someone locally who knows their way around this coding stuff if I decide to do the retrofit myself  - I'm quite confident in the physical installation but the setup seems tricky to the uninitiated.

Anyway looking forward to the Skoda learning curve ahead and leaving the friendly Ford bunch behind.

Kind regards,

Chris.

Hello and welcome.

I can't help with the VCDS coding, but I'm sure there are plenty on here that can.

Off topic - were you a member of a Ford forum? If so which one?

I was a member of what started out as the Mondeo Enthusiasts Group. Same username etc. Great tips saved me £££ doing things myself wherever possible.

Thanks for the welcome!

Welcome.

I was new to Skoda'ing last September having had a few other VAG cars.

So far so good - i'm happy enough with mine.

All the best.

Simon
