Can VW service Skodas

Yep :D By law, the garage doing the servicing only has to be VAT registered and using Skoda's schedule and parts. The added benefit is the VW guys will know the cars (as they're practically the same as the Polo) and have all the appropriate tools and diag equipment for them :D

I would say yes as the skoda range use the same engines (so same parts) and vag-com system. Id check the pricing first though.

Our local VW garage in Bishops Stortford runs an advert each week asking for Skoda vehicles to be serviced there.

Even offer a discount for Skodas over four years old.

Good.

Will have to see about getting it serviced elsewhere once the warranty runs out.

Iassume they don't do warranty work though??

depends on the dealer i think.......

went to a Skoda dealer with my VW and asked for a quote on work. The shurgged me off and told me to go speak to the parts desk. So i did. The parts desk got all hissy with me when i gave them a part number "thats not a Skoda part number, what car is it?"

" a VW Passat, it's the same as that SUperb over there" i say.

Oh, we don't touch VW's, they're not the same car, all the parts are totally different, you 'll have to go toa VW Garage"

:finger:

Next day, wandered into DM Keith in leeds, another Skoda Dealer, and enquired using the same part number and everything.

"yep, no problems. But we're booked up until next week, but we can do that for you"

Go figure. Maybe the first one didn't want a VW making the Skoda's on the Lot look too expensive... :)

I used to get my Audi serviced at my local skoda garage all the time. Best service from any dealership I've ever had.

I'm planning having the TT serviced at my local Skoda dealership.

Only a Skoda dealer can carry out warranty repairs.

Any VAT registered garage can do any Skoda servicing providing it uses parts made in the EU and carries out the service to the schedule. This wont effect your warranty.

When I bought my Superb from a non Skoda garage there was a problem with the stereo that needed changing (long story dont ask). They got a sister company near my home to do it which was an Audi dealer. Boy did they get sniffy having to work on a Skoda - maybe because I deliberately turned up in scruffy shorts. Moved it super quick from the front where I had deliberately parked it. Got the "we can't check it" routine - I pointed out they had exactly the same VAG com as well as engine and gearbox - in fact most of the parts are stamped with Audi rings.

They don't like it up em.

We service any VAG car that a customer would care to book in we aint fussy. Your money is as good as anyones.

I've taken the ZS to my Skoda Garage. Car came back in a better shape than it ever did from an MGR garage.

Mind MGR cars no longer have warranties :orb_sick:

A friend of mine, who is a fitter, was shocked when he went to a scrap yard to get a replacement air-flow meter for his Ford galaxy. It uses the VW 1.9 PD engine so he got one off a VW Touran as it looked exactly the same. But surprise, surprise, it didn
