Has anyone bought a 2015 3rd Generation Fabia with a 1 litre engine?

Featured Replies

As titled.

Has here anyone bought / ordered one, road tested one or driven one say as a hire car?

Just nosey really since the 'What Car', 'Car of the year' choice seemed to be about the 1.2 TSI

& not really the Diesel versions or the 1.0 petrol.

None of the above I'm afraid.

I had a Citigo with the 1 litre patrol engine and felt it was underpowered.

In the Fabia I guess it would be just as underwhelming

Just my opinion of course but I now have a Fabia 1.2 Tsi which I love.

Ive said before on here i know.

Ive driven the 1.0 2015 polo.

Didnt reckon much at all.

Maybe okay for in the city, but needs to be revved alot around here (peak district).

Its just not got enough torque for thr size of car

The wife's Fabia MKIII it the 1.2 110 bhp, with this engine you get a 6th gear which is good for motorway/long trips.

We didn't test the 1.0  Engine though.

I drove a 1.0l Polo back from Leeds Bradford airport about 4 weeks ago, it'll be OK around town but on the A1 back up to Newcastle it just about kept up with traffic.

Would imagine it will be the same in the Fabia, I was impressed with the Polo as a car though.

Interesting, but what was the 1.0 Polo you were driving,

was it a 3 or 5 door,

& was it a 1.0 BMT 60 ps,

or a 1.0 BMT 75 ps Euro 6 VW Polo.?

It was a 64 plate SE 5 door, not sure of the output but there were 4 blokes each with a cabin bag holdall which wouldn't all fit in the boot.

Understandable.

they would not have fitted in a Fabia Hatch either would they.?

An Estate might have been more suitable.

DOH,

Sorry, Cabin Bags!,

4 of them fit in a boot do they not, even of a VW Polo.

Not with a couple of bags of duty free booze and cigs as well !!

As an alternative, did anybody buy one with the 4 cyl 1,6 l engine?

(they seems to exist, its mentioned in a separate manual I got with my 1,2tsi. By some peculiar reason)

Skoda have to produce and sell to customers the Fabia R5 1.6 Turbo AWD to be able to get the car in WRC2.

So is it maybe some of those at around £130,000 ?

(180,000 Euro)

According to the specs its 105 hp and lower torque than the 1,2 110 hp. Guess its a "3rd world" version.

It was a 60ps engine in the one i drove

Apparently the 75ps is the same but carried on pulling into the redline abit better.

Drove and ordered a 75 SE yesterday. We currently have a Citigo Sport 60 bhp and have got used to that. You have to change down for hills occassionaly if you loose momentum, but otherwise I can drive like I stole it all day and still get 50mpg. First dealer we visited yesterday only had a 90 bhp diesel demo. Nasty clutch - awful car - nearly put us off. Visited a much more accommodating dealer who had both 75bhp and 90 bhp petrol available (both brand new - the 90 would have been driven out of the showroom!). So we drove the 75 first. Drove exactly like the Citigo - but bigger, more solid feeling and with softer ride. Same purr from the 3 cylinder engine.

We didn't bother driving the 90 and saved £600 (which we need to as the trade value of the citgo was less than owed.) If you lived in the alps maybe the 90 is the way to go - but for city driving and motorways the 75 is fine.

Have driven the Fabia III with the 75PS (and the TSI 110) and the 75 felt noticeably better than the powerless 60 in the C-Go we had as a loan last year but still seemed to lack the willingness of the old 1.2 12v HTP in my lads 2009 Fabia II. Mind we are comparing a car with 3k against another with 50k on the clock.

If I was buying one though a TSI would be my choice, particularly if like me you have a few hill climbs as part of your daily drive.

Oh someone mentioned the Alps; we took our previous Monte TSI 86 to Switzerland and found while the car would climb the mountain roads with four adults, the clutch was far from happy, got rather smelly.

As to the Fabia III, I'm afraid we didn't feel it had much to offer over the Fabia II, other than noticeably improved steering.
