Cleaning tyres

Featured Replies

Any suggestions on what to clean the tyre sidewalks with prior to applying any type of tyre dressing?

I have a dressing sorted so am specifically asking about cleaning and degreasing them prior to applying a dressing.

I will be washing and scrubbing with shampoo before the next stage.

APC? Diluted or not?

Car Pro Eraser? I already have some.

Tar & glue removers? Trix I have.

Any thoughts from your experiences?

APC is fine. I use Car Chem multi clean and have used Gtechniq APC and Bilt hamber surfex HD. The only one I diluted was bilt hamber and I think it was 10:1

I use APC and a brush. Makes a difference to any tyre coating that is applied.

Diluted or not?

For tyres...undiluted, but a slight dilution will work too

I do a strong dilution of Megs apc. 4:1.

APC for me too & a stiff brush, then I use soapy water after to get rid of any APC residue. Rinse down & then thoroughly dry them with an old towel & the blaster sidekick.

Diluted or not?

Not usually. No. Blast off with the pressure washer afterwards.

Thanks.

What APC do you have?

As personally I wouldn't be using something like G101 on tyres neat.

I don't have anything other than Car Pro Eraser at the moment. Will be looking to buy something soon though, hence why I'm looking for suggestions.

Can't go wrong with any of the ones I suggested. Can send you a sample if that will help.

Just get some household APC. Dirt cheap and does the same job. It's just marketing
