Lack of plug sockets

Featured Replies

well, loving my Octy ownership, second day in, but of course, picking up in a few things now.

Latest irritation is the lack of plug power sockets. I don't think I have ever had a car so sparsely fitted. Only one in the front and one in the boot, but none for the back seat passengers.

Plug my dash cam in and no sockets available in the main cabin for anything else. Seems a cheap reduction to be honest

I agree it could do with a couple more sockets (like you say, for the back seats especially).  I, and a few others, wired the cam into the fuse box beneath the glovebox which frees up the 12V socket by your elbow.  You can also use the USB in the dash for charging phones, powering satnavs etc.

When I wired up my cam I added 2 sockets in the cubby hole by the steering wheel. It's made all the difference!

My 320d had an abundance of sockets. One in the cupboard, one in the dash, one in the armrest (inside) next to a usb connection. Another two at the back of the armrest (for passengers) en one in the boot.

Octavia just gets one next to the stick and one in the boot, that's it. Room for some major improvement in the power department!

Glad I added a 220v socket in the back (of the armrest column) and I had my front dashcam wired into the dashboard so that freed up that socket.

Totally agree they need to play catch up with other cars, however at least there is one in the boot now which there wasn't in my Octy II.

I decided not to hard wire my dashcam & thought I would use the USB socket for power but that didn't work even though it charges a sat nav. Now use the socket which doesn't help in the wire visible department. (
