Replacing alloys with steel wheels (precautions?)

Featured Replies

I'm about to replace my standard spider alloys with a set of banded steel wheels and wondered whether I need to take any extra precautions / buy any extras? (FYI:The wheels are a perfect fit [PCD, CB, etc])

- Can I use my alloy wheel bolts on the steel wheels, or do I need specific steel wheel ones?

- Do I need to fit anything else to the steelies to protect them / secure them?

- Do I still tighten the steelies to 120nm, the same as the alloys?

In other words, is it a straight swap, or is there more too it? Just wanted to be 100% certain before I witness wheels falling off!

Thanks - T :)

I've always done mine to 120nm, and normal wheel bolts fit fine mate so just bolt on and enjoy

Cheers buddy

I changed mine the other way round and when I bought new bolts they were the same ones as were on to start with (bought new ones because of rust and the need for lock nuts) and no, they didn't have anything else to secure them or anything, just stick them on and you'll be right. :)

But don't worry if a wheel falls off your car it'll add to the character. :D
