Is it possible to adjust the power steering to make it lighter on a 1.9 tdi ambiente? My wife needs lighter steering due to her rheumatoid arthritis.

She's going next Saturday, part ex for a Fabia II. If anyone wants to give me over £900  by Friday night for an 2003 1.9tdi 90bhp ambiante h/b, 57300 miles, mot april 2016 in vgc before then contact me by pm.

I don't think what you want to do is possible, and since you've got an Ambiante, swapping to smaller tyres isn't going to help either (you already have the narrowest and highest profile OEM fit).

 

You could check pressures, and fit new tyres. Also she could maybe (depending on which joints are affected and how badly) try sitting closer to the wheel, but other than that changing cars is about it I'm afraid.

Thanks, folks, for your help. I was pretty sure you couldn't alter the weight of the steering on an Octavia Mk1, but that's confirmed it. The Fabia is a different kettle of fish as it's partly electric. 2012 Fabia 1.2 Tdi DPF Greenline being picked on Saturday and a lucky man is getting the Octavia for £910 on Friday evening.
