mk3 Focus RS four wheel drive spec sheets.

Lots of things can change with a car between pre-production and production

Lets all hope the same can be said of your biased pro-VW anti-everything else posts?

Love you too !

Lets not let this go the same way as other threads!

That may depend on VW's marketing machine

;)

Doesn't sound great in that vid but I suspect that's mostly down to a poor audio recording from the GoPro mic, at least I hope so!

I can't wait to see the official ring time. I believe it will show the golf a nice set of tail lights like the seat did. Why did I have kids a need a big boot lol.

Unfortunately for Ford ,they are only 2 years behind the 8 ball.

So I would hope they can now challenge, until the next model arrives shortly.

More important how these handle when being driven in the UK because you will see far more of these at and above the speed limits or being driven enthusiastically & near its limit than you will ever see Ford Focus RS being driven on the roads.

Spoken like the owner of a competitor vehicle, about a new model that hasn't even been released yet. :D

I very much like the Focus here in Metallic Blue and Grey wheels, a colour that has been just so right on many Hot Hatches not just Fords.

Enough has  been said already about the noise it makes and this will no doubt be sorted before production

to have it less like a 49cc moped with the baffles removed.

I've driven a Focus ST diesel, & I can't see where the "fun" is..

The car stopped OK & had quick steering, but didn't offer any real performance.

I suppose a new 4wd ST will be a halo car for Ford, but it's still a Focus.

duh, it was a diesel... :) this isn't a 4wd ST

You really need to stop quoting comments from motoring magazines, why is ford 2 years behind. Just because they didn't bring one out when vw launched the golf. As for "now challange", any ford escort that had an xr badge since the mk3 golf came out could out handle the golf till the mk5 golf was released. And secondly, any Focus that has been given the RS badge, no golf could ever touch them. The golf R is a nice but it's had its day I think. Especially since it was handed it's ass on a plate from the seat Leon.

No quote, just a fact .

Like your exaggeration,in relation to Leon - dry track one off, not every day driving in UK. never a Rematch by Autocar in slippery conditions or off track.

You make me laugh so much. Firstly you say fact, then exaggeration. Why does ford have to bring out a super hatch when vw or anyone else does or any other manufacturer for that matter. Then regarding the Leon, why has vw never taken the golf back to the ring to try and beat the seat. As for every day driving, it doesn't matter what is been driving, it's when these type of machines are being pushed to the limit. I can understand fully why you defend the golf as you have one and that's the car for you and yes it nice looking car. I do feel vw dropped the ball a bit.

Apples and pears here.

The Seat Leon Cupra 280 was going for times and took the record that were those of Production Front Wheel Drive Hot Hatches, Renault Megane & Honda Type R times.

I dont think the lap times were being promoted with the AWD Hot Hatches like the Golf R, A45 AMG or any others as they are not classed the same, like Audi is not making a big deal about what the RS3 does around the Ring.

As long as the car is production and road legal, the type of car has nothing to with it. It's all about the time. It's car mags that like to group them.

If it is all about time then there are many faster cars than the Seat Leon Cupra 280 going around the Ring and standard as can be bought.

The Seat Leon Cupra 280 & the ST are fast front wheel drive cars without a doubt, and faster than many in the right conditions, and fast on the track, if someone is buying a road car and wants to track it then they might not want a Part Time AWD one.

You do find that a lighter 2 wheel drive in the dry will be faster than a heavier AWD with pretty

much the same power, and slower in damp and wet conditions.

Not found where there is anything with VW doing the Ring in the VW Golf R Mk7 and publishing times,

just videos of pre production testing, as is done with the New Golf Estate R recently.

this is a different car from those being talked about here, and one amazing driver and one that is very good and

it gives a good idea of doing the Ring in the wet.

I'm not talking about any other cars. I. Comparing the golf and the seat regardless if there AWD or FWD. By chance I did watch the second video tonight, at the start I honestly thought the golf was going to leave it on that track. To say I was surprised is a bit of an understatement.

To get back on the subject of the 2016 Ford Focus RS and it's abilities on road in the UK and on the track.

It will be mega safe and well handling at the UK NSL of 60 MPH and the 70 mph Speed Limit, just like a Seat Leon Cupra R is,

and even more the Golf R.

Able to go, handle and stop safely at the grand speed of 60 mph max on the twisty UK single carriageway roads in all weathers.

Importantly able to stay on their own side of the road, own side of the White Line on bends so that if you meet another car driver coming towards you in a similar car they are not going to have a collision.

Because obviously UK Public Roads are not like the Nurburgring also a public road but One Way with Cambers more like the Racing Tracks which do not have Cambers like UK Public Roads, ie sloping off to your left.

(obviously the Ford Focus RS 'Drift Mode', has no purpose on the Public Highways any more than tail out driving with a GT86/BRZ, M3, M5 type car or any of the other Dual Use quick cars,

ie, good on both Road & Track.

See that Ford are visually marketing the Focus RS on Sky, intervals during Premiere League etc.

So after a less than glowing reviews, after the Goodwood debut and with a approximate one more year of continued development prior to the start of production, will Ford be tempted to join in the Nurburgring chasing marketing loop?

That is to say, giving the Honda Type R a good thrashing , as King of the Ring!

Or will they be more mature and subtle by letting the car speak for itself via the journo / testing/ comparison route and not fall into the Audi Over Hyped fiasco.

What do you think?

Question, for those that have put down a deposit. What was the best dealer guesstimate of first UK deliveries?

My local dealer hasn't got a clue- Ford keep saying late 2015 but he thinks more likely March 2016 .

He has a ready made Customer wanting to place an order today but Computer System says No!

Are USA Custmers getting first call??

Boss,

Which one will turn up first in your garage, the Focus RS or the Tesla.

Any potential delivery quoted on the RS yet by your dealer?
