Key fob batteries!

Featured Replies

I seem to be going through them very quickly. Started using my spare key as the main one, due to the old one going through them and now this one seems to be doing the same. Well, that's what the MFD says anyway. Its usually when I've attempted to open the windows by holding down the button.. I say attempted because it can take 2-3 goes sometimes and usually fails. Then I put the key in the ignition and get "Renew key battery!".

Is this normal or is this key now screwed too? Replaced the battery on Monday and it happened again today. Key is kept in my desk draw during the day so I'm not sitting on it or anything :/

Mine flashed this up on the maxi dot a couple months ago, I haven't changed the battery and it's still working fine with no warning again!

My key fob said that a year or two ago a couple of times when I put it in the ignition, but I still haven't changed it and it still seems to be ok!

Does it not charge when in the ignition then?

Dont think so -  As far as I am aware the keyfob has a standard CR2032 battery (which is the same as a CMOS battery in a computer)

Wondering if when the windows don't open first time that it then presumes the battery must be low?
