Replacing n/s track rod

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Do I need a special tool to remove the near-side track rod or is it accesible and are there any other problems that might occur with this job?

Thanks.

No special tools required. Are you doing it on the floor? You need a 19mm socket for the track rod nut a 13mm spanner and 22mm spanner for adjustment after. Side cutters for the boot clips. A big adjustable spanner that has an opening range upto 30mm to undo the track rod from the rack. If your doing it on the floor it's hard work. I have done many but on a ramp. Access is tough. You might find it easier to remove the lower track control arm (WISHBONE ) so you can undo the track rod at the rack.

Yes, doing it on the floor with decent axle stands giving about 550mm lift at top of stands, removing the track control arm might be the way to go then.

Thanks for the reply.

Actually thinking about it you might need some adjustable's that go a bit over 30mm . stilsons are better
