better brakes for my Fun

Featured Replies

Does anybody know of a bolt on brake upgrade for my 1999 fun. My brakes are poor. It has good quality brake shoes and pads and the rears are properly adjusted. It just feels like it will not stop in a hurry. Many thanks robert

There are brake upgrades for sure. It is a topic discussed many times.
You have the whole thing explained here (found by search). I'm sure some members will offer to sell their used kits too. But I would check first if brakes function properly. The most overlooked thing is the brake fluid. It should be changed every 2 years and the circuit bled. If your car has ABS, that could be an issue too. Check/replace master cylinder and calliper gaskets. When I want to check my brakes, I go to a friend that works at a local MOT garage and for a small tip he tests my brakes and tells me the brake forces on each wheel.

256mm vented ones are good these a thread on here but your need mondeo mk1/2 calipers carriers and kio mk2 disks and pads for mondeo. I find it funny when I order them and they tell me there wrong for my cars... They or so work with ABS too

i went down that route

got the vented disks as advised

sierra calipers

drilled out caliper etc

still not fit............had to have the disks turned down on a lathe

the brakes are far better.................but not sure if it was worth all the hassle (doing it on my drive in the cold)

i did see that some one used standard disks, but spent about £80 on some soopa doopa pads ... maybe another , much more straight forward option
