1.2TSI - whining noise from Westgate valve on turbocharger (Yeti)

Featured Replies

I have a 2 year old Yeti 1.2 TSI with a very irritating noise that sometimes almost disappears then comes back for weeks.

I have taken this up with my Skoda dealer and the technicians have explained that this is nothing to worry about and is a "characteristic" of these engines due to the need for a "loose-fitting Westgate valve" - not just the Yeti.

They say they have had several complaints about this and have raised it with Skoda via a TPI (Technical Problem inform???) but so far nothing is being done about it.

I would like to change to a new Yeti 1.2TSI but this noise is putting me off.

Does anyone else recognise this problem on their car?

Odd they should say that, there has been remedial work carried out on other Skoda models with the 1.2 TSI engines

for over 4 years now.

Maybe they should go check the TPI they have received.

This is one of many of these types of posts.

Worth posting your question in the Yeti section.
