"Official" answer from Skoda about SmartLink upgrade

Featured Replies

Contacted Skoda CZ about upgrading my MIB1 Columbus to get SL. Here is the answer:

Complete diagnostic of your car is needed. There must be compatibility between systems of the car (bus, ports, hardware and software, control unit of the car etc.) to mount Columbus infotainment. SmartLink can be operated only on the MIB 2 infotainment. There are hardware differences not only software in the new device. So complete change of infotainment is needed. The upgrade will be possible only if all other parts will be compatible with the MIB 2.

Is there any hope? My car was produced in April.

Only skoda can answer if they can do it, chances are it will be expensive if possible as you would need to buy a new unit from skoda along with diagnostic and fitting costs. I would only consider it if you feel its a must have
