Part numbers required for springs/shocks change.

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Part way through collecting parts for a suspension service on a 2009 Skoda Superb Hatch/Saloon. This has the 170 bhp diesel.

I've already got shocks (bilstein b6), springs, and front mounts/bearing kit.

I plan to order the remaining bits from:

http://www.skodaparts.com/

I would like to order new bolts, nylocs, and front/rear bumpstops. I have found a few guides such as the following very useful:

http://www.myturbodiesel.com/wiki/strut-shock-installation-and-replacement-mk5-vw-tdi-and-audi-a3/

Trouble is the part numbers aren't recognised by the Skoda Parts web site, and those that are don't list compatibility with the Superb. I realise this is most likely due to the compatibility listings being incomplete but I'd like to be sure before ordering!

I'm swapping my wheels front to back this weekend and will take a good look in there to ensure the guides I'm looking at are relevent to my car.

Thanks for you help.

I've had some response from the skoda parts website suport. They sent me the following screen shots.

For the front I believe my shopping list is:

(From the first/lower diagram)
18A Anti roll bar link nut.
15 Axle nut
13 Hub pinch bolt
14 Hub pinch bolt nut
9 Ball joint nut
3 Bump Stop.

(From the second/upper picture)
7 Upper strut mount bolts.

I've asked for the part codes and for similar screen shots of the rear suspension.

Got a little further. I could do with a website that links a part code to items that preceeded it and items that have come after it. Few blanks still below.

(quantity 2) SkodaParts# N10106402 lower strut nut £1.48 £0.96
(quantity 6) SkodaParts# N10332002 ball joint nuts £0.92 £0.60
(quantity 2) SkodaParts# N0150816 Drop link nuts £1.48 £0.96
(quantity 2) SkodaParts# WHT005437 axle bolts £4.79 £3.11

Rear
(quantity 4) SkodaParts# ? upper mount bolts ?
(quantity 2) SkodaParts# ? lower mount bolt ?

Front Parts
(quantity 2) SkodaParts# ? Bump Stops ? ?

Rear Parts
(quantity 2) SkodaParts# 3C0511359 Bump Stops £15.07 £12.81

Thanks for the links. Still can't find the rear shock bolts, rear bump stops, or rear spring underlays on the skoda parts website. I think they are just unavailable on there.

This following site sems to list them:

http://www.shop4volkswagen.co.uk

I'll just split my parts order between the two.

There is no need to split the order between the two. Skoda parts were able to get all of the following for me I just needed to phone it through. I hadn't realised that the rear control arm is unbolted from the hub at one point in the process on the guid from my first link. I'll have a look at it this weekend when I do a front to back swap of my tyres and might order that too. All in the below was about £60.

Front
(quantity 6) SkodaParts# N10127707 upper mount bolts
(quantity 2) SkodaParts# N90954802 lower strut bolt
(quantity 2) SkodaParts# N10106402 lower strut nut
(quantity 6) SkodaParts# N10332002 ball joint nuts
(quantity 2) SkodaParts# N0150816 Drop link nuts
(quantity 2) SkodaParts# WHT005437 axle bolts

Rear
(quantity 4) SkodaParts# N90648402 upper mount bolts
(quantity 2) SkodaParts# WHT003467 lower mount bolt
(quantity 2) SkodaParts# 1K0512149B Rear spring underlay
(quantity 2) SkodaParts# 1K0512297D Rear spring support lower

In addition to those parts I have also ordered the following for the job.

Ebay Sachs front bump stops and dust covers
Ebay Sachs Rear bump stops and dust covers
Eurocarparts SKF Top mounts
Bilstein UK Superstore Shock absorbers
Eurocarparts Sachs springs

Half way through this now!

A normal bore airline has left my wizzy gun slightly asmatic! It would not touch the hub bolts. Neither would my breaker bar. Lots of bent and no movement on the bolt. Even so with both sides at the front stripped down there was just about enough room to get the struts off the hub and the new ones in. The rears defeated us. I'd advise you don't try these unless you have the posh spring compresssors shown in the video or plan the dropping the outer control arm bolt method to release the spring. I didn't like the idea of trying to release the spring by dropping a jack slowly from under the rear hub. I suspect the bottom shock bolt would have cause me trouble too, particually trying to torque it under load. Not sure how I would have achieved that considering the limited room between the srping and bolt.

Ultimately these were the guide I found most useful:

Rear guide video:

Front guide video:

The Bilstien B6s on the front only feel much better than the OEM units. It isn't fair to compare them and say the Bilstiens are far better on this alone because the OEMs had over 95,000 miles on them. That said I'm happy with them and they are not over firm. This car wasn't failing MOTs but in my opinion the car was bobbing severely under braking. The car is much flatter and feels tighter now. I suspect the emergency braking performance and tyre wear will be much better now.

You've got good taste in shocks WesBrooks, I've had b6 fitted on my current and previous cars and they are superior to stock shocks. I think It's the mono tube design that makes them special. Do you find that the ride gets better the faster you go?
