Putting a small amount of petrol in the VRS

Featured Replies

Hi,

Seen a discussion on Facebook ref people running a few litres of petrol when filling up the tank with diesel, maybe once a month.

Never heard of this before and to me it sounded silly but wanted to know peoples thoughts on this please.

All the best,

Dave.

traditionally in colder countries people do this to stop the diesel freezing.  Plus it will clean out the system slightly.  Personally i think if you use decent diesel and an additive occasionally there really is no need in my opinion

Do a search on here there was a big thread about it. I believe the conclusion was its a bad idea, it was something people done with older cars I think I read.

It's a terrible idea on a modern diesel engine, it make the EGT really high and can damage your VNT.
