Service time....

Featured Replies

As I have only done 7400 miles in the "pride and joy" in 12 months I have decided to get it service annually rather than on "Longlife" think it pays to change the oil regular....

So today I have a "15" reg Octavia to play with... first impressions... Not a bad car, nice to drive, quite and seems good on fuel...

Still think my Superb is best though   Just done 270 miles last weekend back from Cardiff to York, 70-75MPH (Cruise on) loaded up with holiday stuff and AC on .. averaged 55MPG... Not bad I thought...

Done 10,000 since april 16th

work ya swine!

I actually do almost 100 miles a day to work and back, but that's in the trusty Seat Ibiza... :) The Superb gets used at weekends and holidays.. :)

Did you get the £139 minor service (oil and filter) from DM Keith?

No... I forgot all about it until you just mentioned it :(  Oh well, they look after me in other ways, so I don't mind paying a little more..

Thats a lot for a £8 filter and £30 worth of oil (and thats retail, they dont pay that much), £100 labour?......jeez

Yep , someone has to pay for the free coffee, free WiFi, the pretty girl on reception, the window cleaner to keep all those big fancy windows clean, the free courtesy car, the bloke who washes and hoovers it etc. etc.

Oh, and you forgot the £8 pollen filter  :D

As someone that worked for dealers for a long number of years one of the reasons that they charge so much is for instance, when I was at the VW dealer..

VW release a new car, with that car comes maybe £100000 worth of tools and equipment that they say is needed to service, maintain and repair that car... whether the dealer wants it or not it turns up.. dealer pays for it.. full stop! it may sit on a board in the workshop never used, but if they say you have it, you have it... it has to be paid for... and yes, the showroom and everything else that goes with being a dealer has to be paid for..

I, personally have no issue paying dealer prices, I get a good service, and from past experience both the dealer and the manufacturer will help if you are loyal... as I found out when the Ibiza needed a new engine at 60000 miles and 4 month out of warranty.. it cost me £400 of the £4500 bill.. Would I have got this if I had serviced the car myself or had it done by an independent? I think not! I may have got 20-30-40-50% but not almost the full amount...

It drives me mad how people moan about how much dealers charge, if you are not happy, don't use them, end of it... your choice, I always have, and always will use them, I have a good relationship with all the staff, and they help me out when I need them, as I found out above..
