1.6 CR TDI fuel filter change

Featured Replies

I have read various threads about the pros and cons of DIY fuel filter change on the new CR TDI engines. I just want to share my experience, as a complete non-mechanic.

This evening I successfully changed my diesel fuel filter following the guidance on Briskoda and other sites. I don't have VCDS (sp?) or any other means of priming the fuel pump. I just filled the filter/ housing with clean diesel, left it to soak into the new filter for a minute or two, topped it up and started the car as normal. The car started straight away, there was no dramatic spluttering and it didn't cut out. In fact there was nothing in it's behaviour to indicate I had changed the filter at all.

Well done. Good to share experiences.
