Hi, i've got this really annoying creak/grawnching (if that is a word?!) noise when pulling away in my vrs. It happens every time i pull away in 1st and then as i accelerate in 2nd and only under say 20mph. Its most noticeable in slow moving traffic, when creeping on the clutch (holding it half way or in and out slowly) and comes from under the passenger footwell ish. Can also been heard when sometimes turning.

 

The noise also goes away in the wet which leads me to believe its maybe an engine mount bush? do you agree?? if so, which one would be under the passenger footwell ish??

p.s. parts changed: console bushes, arb bushes, drop links and the top mounts have been checked.

Dog bone or cv joint I'd guess, dogbone is most likely

Fwiw my ibiza had a cv joint fail on sunday, started making noises like that when pulling away, then started vibrating at part load, and 100 miles later failed catastrophically leading to no drive and having to be recovered. How long has yours been making noise? If a while i imagine not a cv

I've got a 1.4 16v and have noticed a notice very similar to that described above. At the moment it's only in 1st when first setting off and only lasts for a coupe of seconds.

I've just put her back on the road and being unused for about 5 years so am expecting a few issues and am quite happy dealing with them as and when they appear, it's just I will need your help to ID the problems.

Part 22 in the diagram. A lot of people replace the big round bush with a powerflex one to reduce the engine rocking under acceleration but it does lead to more vibrations in the cabin. Maybe not so bad on the petrol but it can be very noticeable on the diesels.

But hopefully you're still around. Did changing the dogbone fix it?
