CD Changer Woes

Featured Replies

Hi Folks

I found a nice looking CD changer "I didn't know I had" under the front passenger seat of my VRS, so I bought a magazine, filled it with CD's and popped it in.

Only nothing happened, it's not bloody connected to anything!

So, is this where the CD changer is supposed to live, and is there a wiring plug under the carpet somewhere?

If not, how do I get my CD's back out?

Agggggggggggggggg

Help

That is where its meant to sit, should be wires running into the back of it or laying around near it somewhere.

Are you running the standard head unit or an after market one? - When I fitted an after market Sony head unit to mine there was no way to wire up the CD changer to it so I left the plug unconnected, it became redundant.

You may be able to buy an adaptor to make it work but in fairness it's not worth it for me as I rarely use CDs these days.

Hi folks

Thanks for the information, at least it looks like the right unit in the right place. Some cretin has done done some dodgy work on my car before I bought it,  and it seems just not plugged stuff back together "seatbelts, that kind of thing". I'll take the seat out at the weekend and see if there is a plug for the CD changer.

Thanks

There should be a cutout in the carpet under the passenger seat (view from rear). A "rubber hose" like thing rises from this containing the CDC wires to the changer under the seat.

Hmm

Well thanks for that, I had a jolly good look, seat and center console out, and there be no wire

I can only guess that there is a connection piece that plugs into the loom further back, and it was never fitted?

The seats is seems have come from another car I guess?

OK, having looked around eBay etc.... The loom coming off the CDC (its own end of it), seems to clip up somewhere. At least, there seems to be a multipin/blade connector with what looks like a "mushroom", trim clip attached. I assume this clips to the underside of the seat.

Possibly you can track down how to wire up 12V and earth, or remove the CDC and use as an ornament until you can find a member or friendly mechanic to retrieve your CDs. Or take it apart and do am manual retrieve yourself.

Ok

I'm  going to just try the Red&Black and see if the CDC comes too life enough to let my CD's out.

Time for a nice MP3-4 player then???

Might have changed the seats.
