Askmid - How Accurate is data?

Featured Replies

Just a quick question, How accurate is the database? how up to date?

I've checked a car that has been parked up outside my house (on the road) for many weeks on the Askmid website, and it's come back as not insured.

Is it possible that it could be insured? or is it absolute?

Their FAQ state they can sometimes be 7 to 10 days out, but it doesn't mean a vehicle showing an uninsured isn't.  It could be out of date slightly or perhaps on a trade policy? (as in your case its been weeks not days)

I kind of guessed it wouldn't be 100%.

The car in question is owned by a relative of a neighbour. It use to be moved / used about once a fortnight, but lately hasn't been moved for at least 2 months. One tyre is flat, brake discs rusty and starting to look unloved.

I wouldn't really care that much but it's been parked right outside my house, where I would normally park, so I can't really miss it & parking spaces are limited.

As time went by and no movement, alarm bells were ringing that it might not be insured and then when I checked.......

If it bothers you ask them to move it, or if you don't want to confront them phone the council or police and tell the there is a abandoned car parked in your street.

If it bothers you then speak to them, if you report them to the DVLA it will end up costing them loads, and they will suspect its you anyway! you could always say one of your neighbors mentioned that it was coming back as uninsured so they may wish to move it as you think it might get reported.

Better site for MOT/VED =https://www.vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/

All you need is reg no and make. If no VED,       quick check with DVLA will confirm .The folks thre are usually only too happy to help as  any report makes them look good, but I'd report it to 101 if no VED. .
