The dashcam is now justified.

Featured Replies

When I got my Vrs on a pch I decided to buy a dashcam for it. The reason being my last car had a couple of occasions where the wing mirror was smashed off while parked, costing me £100+ each time for a second hand one.

I bought a naito v2 for £99 and the other half was asking why I needed it. It's stupid and a waste of money.

After a few weeks I happened across a really good deal on a blackvue 650 twin channel (front and rear) camera. So I secretly ordered it and upgraded my dashcam.

Once again I got an ear full about what a waste of money it is and what a geek I am for wanting such a thing.

Anyway, last week in sat on the wall in the front garden while she is speaking to someone who popped round to collect something she'd sold on eBay.

A lad from 2 houses down comes screeching out of the garden on a scooter, straight over the road and crashes into a neighbours fence post and falls off.

He picks himself up and is clearly drunk. He gets back on the scooter and rides to the end of the road, turns round and comes Flying back down, past us and stops about 20 feet away from me.

At this point I'm being told to ignore him as she can see that I'm thinking about dragging him off the scooter. He clumsily turns it round and cranks back the throttle, accelerating back down the road, only he gets it wrong and smashes straight into my mrs's car!!

He is duly arrested for drunk driving and handed to the cops.

The whole incident was caught in glorious HD along with sound.

She now sees the benefits in dashcams.

When I reviewed the footage he was scarily close to my Vrs when he flew past it. He can thank his lucky stars that he missed it.

Hope he gets Life

Maybe not life but he will probably be having a stay at her majesty's pleasure.

He'd only been released from custody 3 hours earlier...no prizes for guessing what he was arrested for the first time.....drink driving!!

Doubt it....probably get a telling of by some bleeding heart out of date old judge still stoned from the 60's.

Anyway to the point, glad the investment paid off :)

Was the camera in 'sleep' mode prior to the incident? Are you sharing the footage?

No it records 24/7 as its attached to a power magic pro.

It caught everything.

I will post the footage but not at the moment as it is obviously going to be evidence in court.

Once the case is finalised I'll post it.

I shouldn't laugh at her misfortune as she now has a damaged car but it's funny to see the idiot kiss the windscreen.

Can you not fit dash cams like you'll have in your Copter   :notme:

If only that was an option!

I bought a cheap dashcam recently.

I surely hope I never have to justify the cost of it in circumstances like this..

Glad to hear you you got value from it!
