Probably A Stupid Question...

Featured Replies

I checked my oil this morning (shock horror) which was OK. However the engine seemed to be covered in a thin layer what looked like dried mud in little bits. Is this something I should be concerned about ?

Been through any puddles? Is the same stuff on the under side of bonnet?

As in, on the cover and that? Possibly just grime?

Tend to hose my engine bay every few months...

Rob.

Think the underside of the bonnet was OK. Can't remember going through any puddles recently.

*shock horror* Sister finding where the engine is alert! :D

How about *shock horror* Brother has a look under the bonnet for Sister!

(.....and finds her covered in a thin layer what looks like dried mud in little bits)

Denis,

What makes you think that Stimps knows where the engine is ?

I don't, Jane. This is just an attempt to 'flush him out' - but I really should be kinder as it's his birthday! Back on topic, I would only be worried if the coolant level was low and/or there was brown in the coolant. Sounds like you have driven through a very muddy puddle at some stage without knowing it. :)

No grime under mine, but I suppose there's less room around my bulky lump of iron engine for splashing mud & cow-5hit to get up into the engine bay...? I haven't hosed it down since getting the car...
