4 week old Focus broken!

Featured Replies

I hate this car. I took it as a company car and its four weeks old, having covered about 4,000 miles. It broke today. I put petrol in it, tried to start it back up, the immoboliser came on, and it wouldn't start. still wont start. apparently the car is not recognising the key! (same bloody key!) and has immobolised the car by killing the fuel pump :( it's currently sitting in the ford garage broken. to top it off, was driving my lovely fabia today, and I now have a flashing glow plug light and engine management light on!! :( (all the brake lights, bulbs ect are working) I've had a sucky day, with two broken cars!! *Sharky slinks off and considers importing a yaris turbo, just to have a small fast RELIABLE car !! sigh...... :thumbdwn:

Yaris turbo's are good, but with the luck you're having, I'm sure you could manage to kill one of those too ;)

yeah, they exist, they just don't sell them in the UK... I assume they would be as reliable as all toyotas! 150 bhp I beleive! ;) 1.5 petrol turbo.......

bengie.... according to the ford garage and the AA these problems have never before been encounted with the new focus, problem is it lost me alot of money in income today, and cost a pupil of mine his driving test, if it was my car I would have thrown the keys at them and demanded my money back! :( unfortunatley that means I hate it now ... :( even though I have flashing warning lights in the fabia, at least its still working! going to work in that tomorrow......

They are called the Yaris RS, 130bhp. I was gonna buy one in Cyprus, but it was way tooo expensive for a damn Yaris.

Sounds like your havin' a tough time with cars Sharky.

Sharky,

re the flashing lights etc in the Furby........

assume you're going to get it checked out?

You sound suprised that your Dagenham dustbin has died??

really didn't expect either of em to die! .... yeah hope to get to the skoda garage this morning before work :(......................

lol i know someone who uses new focus as company cars he has been through 3 all with major problems...1st one was semi ok but shagged by the time 20k was hit...thats in about 2 months...2nd one clutch let go after 2000 miles... 3rd one long list of problems funnist being the boot wouldnt open!

he now has an astra an all seems fine....

yet the company my old man works for has a fleet of Mondeo's for the surveyor and site guys.

he got lumbered with one today to go over to leeds, and, having just seen it....

this thing has been heavily abused. No part of the interior in in anything more than "trash" condition. fag burns, mud, scratches, bits missing, the radio doesn't work right, the tyres are surely illegal (to my eyes).

But the engine runs sweet, the brakes stop it well, the cruise control works, the panels fit and shut properly and there isn't any sign of exterior bits falling off/rusting.

a TDCI with over 100,000 on the clock and it's a 53 plater....

can't be all that bad.

(though i wouldn't have one.... even brand new :P )

well there is some good news...

1) the focus has gone back to the fleet company, and they are delivering me a replacement in the morning....

2) took the vRS in this morning, they said they could look at it it tomorow, (but said they wouldn't just reset the warning lights!) but I cancelled the booking, I've been using the car all day, and this afternoon the warning lights went away all by themselves, and haven't come back! nice one fabia

what is it with fabias??? someone other week mentioned a light resetting itself.... urs just fixed itself. My powersteering light came on otherday was driving down to skoda to get it checked, parked outside but had to move my car as i was distance from the kurb... started back up... light on... then off!!

Good luck with the focus... m8 rejected two in a row for a dodgy reverse gear.

"Common fault" erm hello ford... fix it then!
