Brake fluid reservoir (stupid question time)

Featured Replies

Going to be changing my disks and pads at the front which i have done before and just pushed the piston back in.

Guides on youtube suggest taking the cap off the reservoir incase the fluid being pushed back causes a over flow, my question is.... does taking the cap off not mean you have to re bleed the brakes?

No :)

Thanks for the quick reply, is that the same for all modern cars?

When caliper piston pushed in -fluid returns up the system. Removing the cap makes it easier for fluid to return. Only thing to worry about is if fluid overflows   ( which it shouldn't   if level was down before pad  change. ), as fluid can be corrosive to underbonnet paint.

Yes, you can't get air into the system by removing the reservoir cap. It's never been any other way on any car.
