Sidelights/DRL's

Featured Replies

Mk2 fl model . Is there anyway on the vcd's to turn your DRL's back to day mode when you have your side lights on ? Mine dim when sidelights are on , I would like them to stay bright . Thanks

It is a legal requirement that DRLs are extinguished or dimmed when headlights are on.  This is to prevent unnecessary dazzle during the hours of darkness (including dusk and dawn).

In what circumstances do you drive with sidelights on but not headlights?

On my Octavia MKIII Vrs the default setting for the DRL's in side light mode is 35% brightness  I've had mine altered to 60% via VCDS, looks better with Bi-Xenons. You can have them set anything from 0% to 100%.  Possible on a MKIII so maybe on a FL MKII

When it's dusk about 8.45-10ish . What part of the vcd's do you look for for the DRL's ?

09 central elec.

Would you not just be better getting the rear DRL’s turned on (dealer) with the fronts?

Rear DRL's ? Has it got them ?

The dealer can turn the rear sidelights on with the front DRL’s, meaning you only need to turn your lights on when you need the headlights to see with.

Very true, but I turn mine off manually then to Auto when I want them on.

Partly old school that I don’t want the lights on before the car is started and secondly because I have had a car pull out on me previously when my car went under some trees and the lights came on... I assume they thought I had flashed them out??

Why do the dealers need to do the rear ?

The answer to the OP is no, the mk2 doesn't have the capability to change the DRL brightness when in sidelight mode.

As said you can have the rear lights turned on all the time.

Why do the dealers need to do the rear ?

It’s one of the very few things that VCDS cannot currently do.
