More detail required I think. Alot depends on the court backlog in the area that the offence was comitted. Were you given a verbal NIP? Offered a fixed pen?

well if you get pulled you get your nip straight away then you take your stuff in to the cop shop they send it away then you get it back at some point

thats what happened to me anyway

speed camera the nip has to be sent within 14 days

I got pulled for speeding a while back. Got 3 points + 60 quid fine. Pay up within I think a week, showing your paperwork at a police station nearby (I was given a choice based on where I got pulled over). After paying the fine I then sent off the bit of paper driving license so my endorsement could be added. Took a few weeks to get it back, which was slower than it should have been, but that was it.

If you have to go to court, things are probably different, but if in doubt I'd just visit your local police station and find out. Seemed very helpful to me anyway.

If they offer you a fixed penalty it will be given to you at the roadside.

You have to go to the police station and hand over your licence which you will get back in a few weeks.

If they want to take you to court it'll take anything up to 6 months

I got pulled for speeding in 1992, wasn't offered a fixed pen on the spot but the NIP came through with the offer of a fixed penalty a few days later. Think it's because I was clocked at 85 in a 60 (which is above the speed at which you'd automatically be offered a fixed penalty).

Yup, we didnt accept the on the spot fine so wanted to go to court about it, didnt hear anything for exactly 6 months, thought we'd got away with it.

Sneaky really because I bet a lot of people just pay up when they recieve it 6 months on, not us though :D

my boss at work says that you should always go to court no matter what as there is more chace that paperwork will be lost or made out with wrong info or unsigned.......

I'd forget that idea tbh, go to court, loose (99% chance of that happening) then they can sting you up to 1000.00 order you to pay court cost's and double your points.

Just put your hands up and admit it, trust me from experience
