M8 Android TV box questions

Featured Replies

My lad is returning to live in Turkey and has bought an M8 Android TV box from Amazon to watch all the sport when he returns there.  He says he can watch virtually any channel be it Films or sport without paying.  I assume it must be Kosha for Amazon to be selling them but cannot understand it.

I am going to do a bit of research on the net to see if I can understand it better but thought some of you good fol may well know all about them.. So assuming it is legal is it worth it?  Will it work and if so how?

I bought an M8 box from a seller on Ebay that was pre-loaded with apps/add-ons to watch sport, films, TV series etc. In the end I gave up on it. It was forever buffering, locking up just as Stevie G was about to burst the net.

I decided to load up my Acer Revo with Kodi (previously XBMC) and stuck some add-ons on to it such as Genesis, Vdubt25, navi-x and a few others and I`ve had much better luck with that.

its not legal for the source streamer but i think the end user, ie your son, isnt gonna be jailed for using it

the software, kodi for ex, isnt illegal its a lot like a search engine that collects streams and stuff and puts them all in one place

read up on kodi, its very good when it works but unfortunately that isnt all the time

the box itself is just an android box that can be connected to the tv, nothing illegal about it either

There are better boxes than the M8 for this purpose. As said XBMC/Kodi and the add ons is all the M8 has anyway. 'Droidsticks' is a paid for one thats pretty good (must have a static IP now due to people pirating their pirate service lol no sense of humour!).

Minix Neo range is pretty good as it goes spec and price point wise.

Thanks for the replies folks.

Not sure that I understand any of it to be honest but as I am looking at a way to watch the Moto G races without being held to ransom by BT for the mega expensive packages over another 18 months I shall have a closer look at it all.  I don't watch much TV and no sport other than motorcycling so having BT sport at either £5 extra a month or sign up for another 18 months when I can get a better/cheaper package is a no brainer as long as I can see the races.

I'd buy an Amazon firestick. Learn how to load kodi. Load genesis, navi-x and sport devil addons and you should be away to go to watch everythin. So £35 and about an hour of your time

Cheers Brian another one for me to look at.  Haven't the faintest how any of it works but I shall have to fork out and get something.

is there really any paid for tv thats cheaper than BT just now?

i pay £5 for the tv and i get the hd & kids for another £6 with sport thrown in for free

admittedly their broadband isnt the cheapest but its the only fibre supplier in my area

on the whole its way cheaper than sky although when talktalk is available id consider that but bt @ £5 is certainly cheap

thats not to say i dont use kodi, i just like choice ;)

It is at least a tenner a month dearer than Talk Talk and I only have free calls at the weekend where with Talk Talk they would be free all the time.
