ABS, Traction Control & Tyre Pressure Warning Lights

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Tonight on my way home I had the above warning lights light up on my dash, turning off and then back on again the traction control and pressure warning lights went off but the ABS remained on.

Considering that I have only just purchased the vehicle and that I have a warranty with the garage (main Vauxhall Dealer) I will be returning it to them to sort out, however I was interested to hear if anyone had any suggestions about what the possible cause could be?  Appreciate that it's difficult without reading the codes.

Thanks

Without reading the codes it would be impossible to tell but those lights can be brought on by a number of faults:

Faulty ABS sensor

Broken magnetic ring in hub

Cabling between ABS sensors and pump broken

Faulty ABS pump

To name a few.

Do you have a local member with vcds near by? That way you can scan it and see what it could be before they have a look at it.

Thanks for your suggestions, in the end I contacted the dealer which I bought the car from (only 1 week ago!) and as they didn't have the diagnostic equipment, so I convinced them to get the car booked into to the main dealer, Robinsons in Norwich.

I have been kindly loaned a 15 plate 1.4 Fabia, albeit a bit of a difference to the vRS Octavia at least I can get around and the issue is being looked at by a dealer that know the car.  Interesting to see what the result is.

If it's going off and on it'll probably be one of the two first suggestions from softscoop.

Probably a reluctor ring. Not the end of the world.

Happened on my mine about 2 weeks after I bought it. Took it back to fords and apparently plugs for sensor where gunked up. Been cleaned and fine since.

Hit and miss without a scan on it. Hope you get it sorted!

All sorted now, it was the ABS Reluctor Ring as suggested by softscoop and aspman, resulting fix was new rear n/s hub.

Thanks for everyones replies.
