Older VCDS cable and software

Featured Replies

Whilst chatting in the office about wanting to change the country code on my MY16 Yeti to allow MPH to be shown on the Maxidot.

My boss said that he has the VCDS cable and software from when he had an A6. As he has not had that car for about 2 years and the cable/software are probably older than that.

Is there anything to watch out for using them on a newer car ?

as above, go for it, it should auto upgrade the firmware and you just download the latest software, mine must be around 4 years old now and it works just fine

be careful though!

Mine is 10 years old and runs the current version of VCDS.

If it has a version number printed on the side like below, it's a clone cable, and you won't be able to install the latest version.

Doing so would probably stop it working.
