Help - Smashed grille (bloody pigeon!)

Featured Replies

Hey,

So driving to work, just another day and some unfortunate suicidal pigeon comes out the sky (of all bloody places as they're usually dithering about on the road) and straight into my front grille, smash!!

It died on impact but was wedged in there head first, was going to remove when I got to work but was fed up of people flashing, pointing, laughing, signalling at me etc so pulled over.

Removed pigeon, said a prayer for him haha and then assessed the damage...

Excuse all the dead flies and muck! Basically it's smashed the plastic slats section of the grille, could've been worse I suppose.

So a couple of things...

Can I put a FL grille on it to replace??

What's people's opinion on removing all the slats and replacing with mesh? Has that been done, hard to do etc

Where's best to get a replacement and which bits / part no. do I need?

Is there a how to anywhere?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks

W

FL Grill will not fit, the bonnet is also different along with the different wings and front bumper/headlights etc.

Thanks guys, I think Superskoda one is more than I was hoping to pay tbh and would prefer a genuine OEM used part in good condition really but thanks buddy :)

Timmy I've emailed the seller for that one on eBay so fingers crossed, I'd be happy at £20.

Mannyo maybe I should use this as my reason to get the newer FL or even Mk3 vRS to the wife...(wishful thinking!!)

Not had mine long and noticed the radiator has had a bid hit it with a few feathers still in there, rad has been dented in on some of the fins like a golf ball has been wacked at it, like the top ones the lower grill bars look too far apart to stop big debrie getting in, upgrade ?

Ah right cheers for looking into that silver, yer can't say I'm a massive fan of that tbh so will stick with the pre-fl OEM version!

Yer Maffoo I'd be tempted to mesh it or something similar, like Billy2981 member did to my Mk1 Octy vRS...

Looked really smart IMO and worked well, was just some metal mesh from halfords I think but don't have much spare time at the mo and would ideally need to mesh the bottom grilles too, turning into a biggish job! Not a fan of the badgeless Superskoda ones really plus they cost a fortune...
