fixed rad fan problem !

Featured Replies

hi all

i have just been on my hols to sunny devon and whilst sitting on the dreaded m5 i noticed that after 5 mins or so the temp gauge started to creep up higher than id ever seen it before, this kept happening and because the m5 traffic was creeping mile after mile after mile  i decided it was safer  to pull off and go a different route, as whilst moving the temp stayed dead centre as always.upon arriving at my destination and suspecting the fans  i had a quick look at all the fuses inc the ones on the top of the battery but all were good, checking the wires at the fans  found zilch so i thought as the car was driving fine untill in a jam i would use it  carefully keeping an eye on the temp.

now anyone going to devon this time of year will know how bad the traffic can be, so by the second detour because of traffic jams i and my missus had had enough.so out came the 12v tester and the investigation began.

whilst the fuse for the fans was intact i discovered that the wires underneath the fuse in the battery fuse box had corroded and gone that green/blue colour and that there was no contact to the fuse, a good clean up and wd40 and hey presto the fans now work fine and the holiday was completed without further problems, thankfully a nice easy fix.might be something for other members to bear in mind if similar problems occour.
