Amundsen - how do you turn Nav off?

Featured Replies

Okay I give in.  I yield.  I've tried not to ask this question. I've even read the blooming manual and I still can't work it out

How you you turn Nav off.  I'm sure it must be really simple, and I can usually do simple, but can I work it out? Can I heck!

Snorts of derision are only welcome if accompanied by a helpful answer.

Thanking you kindly.

Just press any of the other buttons by the screen, and it changes to whatever you pressed....

But it's still running in the background.  Appreciated it kinda goes dormant once you're at your destination, I just thought I ought to be able to turn it off.

So what's the difference between off and running in the background?  It doesn't affect any other system.... If it was completely off then when you chose Nav it would take an age to start up again.

It's my age.  I like turning things off that I'm not using

The only way would be to turn the whole Amundsen off. I kinda like it being on in the background though, it doesn't adversly affect anything and if you dont know where you are (which i don't, most of the time...) you can bring it up on the Maxidot.

hello,

once you have entered a destination in turns it self off on arrival.

If you stop before end destination you can go back in to new destination mode

then press stop route, that normally does it for me.

good luck but saying that it should'nt matter if you just switched back to media

or radio etc.

You can stop it from navigating you whilst enroute as long as you have the navigation in maxidot, turn the right click wheel and it will ask (on the maxidot) if you wish to cancel navigation.

I am well into my 60's and the only things I like to turn off are things on stand by in the house - cos they cost me money. The sat nav ain't doing nothing but sitting there so why the need to turn it off. If you think about it everything electrical in your car that you are not using at the moment is running in the background & you wouldn't turn them off so why the satnav.

If you're mid route and don't want it on hit "stop route" then on the Amundsen Head Unit select another function, meaning it's no longer visible. On the maxi dot, scroll to anything BUT Navigation. Bring that up. There. No visible or audible signs that the navigation is still "working" Ha Ha!!!
