Spare Tyre in the boot

Featured Replies

The dealer I bought my Skoda Approved Used VRS from put a spare in it for me. The car had a tool kit but the original wheel was missing. After I said I'd like a spare, they told me they were no longer available but they'd fit a goo kit. On handover there was a brand new 16" spare in the boot and no goo. :)

I'm pleased that I read this thread first as I checked it wasn't a 15" wheel before being quite pleased with the salesman.

Sorry for OPs trouble but thank you for sharing the info.

Thanks for this thread it has reminded me to purchase a 18" wheel & tyre for my vRS. To me a spare wheel is one I can fit to the car and continue to drive as before; both performance-wise and legally. If the spare tyre is a different size (dia, width or profile) to the other tyre on the same 'axle' then the car is limited, by law, to 80kph (50mph). Ideally I would like a matching 18" wheel but if I can't find one at a reasonable price then I will use as a spare a cheaper 18" wheel with a design as near as possible to the standard wheels. Currently I have a 205/55-16 spare on a steel wheel, as supplied by the dealer when I bought the car, to replace the useless inflation (ha,ha) kit.
