Any idea what it could be?

Featured Replies

Sometimes my (bolero?) entertainment system doesn't play ball in the car. I have started listening to Spotify on my phone and even though the phone is connected to the car, sometimes the BT-Audio is not available as per the photo below, and I have no idea why it does this.

The touchscreen also freezes from time to time. I can touch anywhere on the screen but nothing happens. Switching the ignition off and removing the key and starting the car again usually sorts the problem but that's not an option when on the motorway which i do a lot of.

P.S in the photo, the car is running and the phone is connected.

Is it really connected? If you push phone button, does it shows your phone?

With spotify, i realized the following with colombus.

If phone bluetooth is switched on before i start the car , and connect auto -> then everything fine. Song names shows and i can skip songs from s.wheel.

If i connact manually after the car is started, then no song names are shown and can not use the s.wheel buttons to operate.

Somehow your explanation with the restart sounds similar.

Ps : this screen doesnt show active BT.

Ps : this screen doesnt show active BT.

That is why I took the photo. My phone is connected because I'm able to make calls via the MFSW, but the BT Audio is not available. That's the part that is confusing me.

To answer the first question, yes I can pull up call lists on the screen and I can make and receive calls via the MFSW.

Regards the screen not showing active BT, that's why I took the photo. The phone is definitely connected but sometimes (enough times to be a pain in the neck) the BT Audio is not available.

What do you mean by connect manually? When I start my car it finds and connects my phone automatically. I then push the media button and when the system decides to work as it should, the BT Audio button is highlighted. I then go into the Spotify app on my phone, start it, then press the BT Audio button on the car system and I'm connected to the Spotify on my phone.

I meant if BT on the phone is switched off when car is starting, then later i can only connect manually.

Go to BT menu on phone and select skodaBT. In such a case i also have problems... No active wheel , no song names visible etc...

Ah, ok. I think I know what you mean now. I always leave the Bluetooth on on my phone so it always connects to the car automatically when I start the car up. That part of the system is very reliable, I never get problems with the phone connecting, just the BT Audio being available.

There is a setting I found on the Columbus (Not Bolero, but there might be similar) that tells it not to switch to bluetooth every time the phone makes a sound. This is to stop the head unit switching permanently to bluetooth when a text arrives and the phone beeps. I had to reselect the SD card each time the phone made a noise before changing this setting. If you start the music playing from your phone does the bluetooth option become available?

Do you mean start the music before it's connected to the car and then try to connect it.

I'm suggesting starting the music from the phone after it's already connected to the car, but you can try both options and see whether it makes a difference.

Will try both. Cheers.
