Brake issue?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I've got a 2002 vRS hatchback, replaced the estate I had and about 2000 miles ago it had new pads/discs all around.

The only problem I have now is that it makes a bit of a squealing noise when the brakes AREN'T applied at low speed, it also feels slightly like the cars being held by the rear brakes when pulling away but apart from that no issues. The brakes aren't getting overly hot or anything and I'm not quite sure what it could be?

Any ideas?

Yes,  Go and check everything, especially at the rear, see all is freeing and moving as they should.

Hand Brake Cable as well.

Remove the brake pads and apply a little Copper Slip (Grease) to the rear of the pads,

& use brake cleaner on the Discs.  then see how things sound.

As stated above check the sliders on the calipers are free to move, and grease pads, then if it still does it at the back, you may want to consider handbrake return springs on the calipers if the cables are returning ok.
