Octavia III Estate Max Boot Width Question

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

Hopefully-soon-to-be-owner with question for you more enlightened types.

I'm looking at purchsing an Estate (maybe Greenline, not a vRS or Scout - unlikely to get variable boot floor), but in the meantime would like to get a interior bike-mounting bar accessory that will work for my aged Golf and the new Octavia.

Said accessory is sized to fit across the width of the boot. I understand from research that the width on the Octavia between the wheel arches is 1010mm, but what is the width between the wheel arches and the rear of the boot, where I understand it widens significantly?

If anyone has those measurements to hand for this model (I have an idea from the Octavia II after reading this forum) or a few minutes to measure the difference, I would appreciate it.

I am a little confused about whether there are little plastic dividers supplied that sit in line with the wheel arches and the back of the boot, and whether these should be removed or not, or whether they would be 'rigid' enough to 'brace' the horizontal bar against. Obviously if left in or taken out then they will impact on the usable width.

Thanks in advance.

The maximum width is 1420 in the section between the wheelarches and the rear door. With the VBF, which my Elegance has, there are plastic mouldings on either side to hold the luggage cover and roof bars with the VBF in it's top position. Don't imagine these are there on a car without VBF.
