gearbox

Featured Replies

hi peeps...

had my new superb for around 6 wks or so now....

anyone else feel there gearbox is kinda notchy in changing ? is it because its just new ? or are all superbs this way ?

Mine is stroppy when cold, just learned to live with it really.

Mine is the sweetest of all the VW boxes I have had. Never notchy or difficult, when cold or even straight after a motorway blast. (And this would include a Polo, Jetta,Vento and Octy boxes)

My 4X4's gearbox is still notchy at 16K and quite a few other members have reported similar problems with VAG gearboxes.

its not a problem...just maybe getting used to it :D

The box on my 54 plate 130TDi has always been a little notchy slotting into second from cold. Only notice it because the rest of the action is so sweet!

Over 30k miles on the clock now and the effect is no better or worse than new, so i'm not overly concerned.

I think that the gearbox in the Superb isn't that clever, my old Bora was a much better gear change. The Superb box just seems a little sloppy IMHO.

Having said that I agree with some of you guys that in the cold it is worse from 1st changing to 2nd.

The Superb gearbox is a bit sloppy. But ti is completely different to the transverse type box so not a fair comparrison.

Six weeks old, its still got a bit of bedding in to do.

Sloppy! Obviously you guys have never run a Vauxhall. The gearchange on that is like stirring a bucket of treacle!

The superb's compared to this is an absolute joy.
