Wishbones replaced and car pulls to right?

Featured Replies

I've just had some work done on the car to replace both front wishbones and now it pulls to the right, also the steering wheel is quite a bit off centre, what do I need to do?

Four wheel alignment. Always do it after any bushes or suspension work.

I had the car lowered last year and completely forgot to get it 4 wheel aligned, as a result the tyres have already worn badly and I had two new fronts just before getting wishbones fitted. I'm gonna need two new rears also and a 4 wheel alignment by the sounds.

With regards two the steering wheel, should I wait until the 4 wheel alignment has been done before getting that straightened?

The centring of the steering wheel should come out in the wash when they do the alignment - but make sure you mention it just in case.

Will do. What price should I be looking to pay, does £57 ish sound about right?

I think I paid £90 but nearer to London than you so sounds about right.

+1 for 4 wheel alignment. Getting the steering wheel central is all part of the job, the first thing the technician will do is set the wheel straight and clamp it so that it doesn't move when the adjustments are done.

Just had mine done on a proper Hunter rig a couple of weeks ago, and it cost me £60 (Scarborough)

Mike

Cheers Mike, £60 sounds very reasonable so I'll ask around and get a few prices. £57 was a quote from last year but I don't think that was for Hunter!

Might be worth making sure that all the bolts on the wishbones are properly torqued up as well...I changed the console bushes on mine and got horrifying torque steer becase the guy who'd done it didn't properly torque up one of the front bolts.
