Dont understand my new vrs

Featured Replies

Just replaced my 06 Vrs with a FL 59plate Vrs and i now have DRL but they are only on when i put the sidelights on with the ignition on too,i have also noticed neither of the front sidelights are working(possibly a bulb/bulbs) but should my drl,s be on all the time ??? I have the bulb warning light on the dashboard illuminated but i thought this was because the rear number plate lights have led,s and they are flickering sometimes.???Any help or guidance appreciated cheers :)

Yes they should be on all the time when the ignition is on. When you switch the sidelights or headlights on they then dim.

Thanks mate,thats a start then

There are no sidelights; they are replaced by the DRLs.  Sidelight bulbs are fitted only to fill the holes; there is no electrical connection.  DRLs should be on all the time and dim when headlights are on.  At least that is how my 2012 car is set up.

You can turn them off with VCDS or Maxidot. I think there is a way to do it with the indicator stalk too. Try a search.

You could keep the led's & wire a bulb in line, which is what I have done. No bulb out warning on my 09 Vrs  Can confirm front sides in the headlights do not have power to them, your DRL's are your sidelights which Pilbes, Mike & littleade have stated.

                                   Hope this Helps

I was the same as this I was like hmmm don't have any sidelight? But then switched the engine on and saw that it's the DRL, also when u have the front fog lights on the DRLs dim and all of them are on

Diesel???.....wash your mouth out Mikey, petrol only at my house mate, apart from the transit lol.Old one going up for sale in a week or two as gonna give it a good clean up and take the plate off etc.How are you keeping, think i saw you the other day going out towards flaxton ??

Hmm....i havent been near flaxton recently,i do go past the pubs & over the bridge in strensall towards sheriff hutton every day but thats as near as ive been towards flaxton. :-) what colours the new motor?

  • Author

Mite have been sheriff hutton actually, dementia is takin its toll Mikey........Its blue of course best colour, just had the wheels done in anthracite :)

Blue does suit the vrs,i quite like white as well, with yours being a early Facelift 59 plate tsi has it had the timing chain tensioner replaced in it history? thats the only thing that puts me off owning a tsi vrs,id have to either have a warranty that covers it (should it fail) or change the tensioner & if required the timing chain as soon as i got it if it was mine.

Its got full history Mike but am gonna look into it ,if you know anyone interested in my old one mate gimme a shout :)

Mike

Hi Mike,im going to pop along & say hello as well.  :D

Sorry i couldnt make it mike, the worse storm ive seen in ages hit just as i was getting ready to leave, ive had to bail out my garage twice tonight due to flooding   & my back garden looks like a swimming pool & the drains are still full of rainwater & one is still emptying itself into my back garden adding to the already flooded problem, nearly 3 hours of non stop heavy rain & hail & some amazing lightening.  :rain:
