Towing electrics on a Yeti

Featured Replies

This is our first ask on Briskoda.  I have a factory fitted removable tow bar which I use to tow a caravan.  I discovered there is no connection supplied from the No 10 and 11 pin which would have powered my caravan fridge when being towed.

By any chance has anyone had a Yeti delivered recently which included a factory fitted removable tow bar.  Are your electrics the same or do the No 10 and 11 pin now come with the power and earth to the caravan.

OR has anyone had this sorted independently of Skoda, bearing in mind my Yeti is still in warranty.

I would be grateful for any advice.

You don't state what year your Yeti is, but the original towing wiring kit did not include the fridge/battery charging connections, and you had to order a separate additional loom for that.

It appears that since the facelift some "might" have included this facility, although I have yet to see confirmation of this. From my reading of the brochure and website i don't think it is included.

I had a Witter fitted and I was specifically asked

if my caravan had a battery and/or a fridge!

I said it did and would need a 2.5mm supply and

earth return my fitter knew all about it but said VAG

don't fit these as a matter of course.

Thanks to Llanigraham and Gumdrop.  The vehicle was the first of the facelift models which was late 2013.  Its useful to know there could have been an opportunity to order a separate additional loom.  I still wonder if current deliveries include this as standard.  Does anyone know?

As I said, some have said that their's have included it when the loom is fitted at the factory, but no-one has yet confirmed it.

Personally it isn't something I worry about as I have never found it that satisfactory. Only puts a very small charge into the battery and only seems to keep the fridge at a constant temperature.

I have a facelift Yeti with factory fit towbar registered in March 2014. There was no option to have 'twin charging' factory fitted. My dealer could have fitted it at PDI but, like Graham, I don't think it's worth it. Of more interest I think is the factory wiring does power the ATC on the caravan if fitted. I was relieved when I first tried it on my new caravan!
