Bluetooth car kit help - Please

Featured Replies

I have just finished installing the SE HCB 700 bluetooth car kit (http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?cc=gb&lc=en&ver=4000&template=pp4_loader&php=php1_10302&zone=pp&lm=pp4_1&pid=10302) into my car and everything seems to be working fine except for the sound through the stereo speakers.

I have done a little bit of research and had hoped to be able to connect directly to the headunit using two spare pins on the back as in this Octavia diagram.

http://www.packetradio.co.uk/Cars/octavia/radio.htm

I have the radio mute working fine but I don't seem to get the sound through the headunit. I have simply cropped the two wires from the speakers and connected them to pins 7 & 12 in the top middle section as shown.

Anyone else managed to get this to work?

The diagram is the old Skoda radio layout and the key to the pins listed beside it reflect what each pin does. Notice there are no pins listed for hands free as the older radios don't have that input. If the connectors on your radio look like the diagram then your radio doesn't support the hands free input function.

You are probably looking at the info below on the page reflecting what you get in the newer radios. The newer radios have the handsfree input function (as listed) on a separate 2 pin connector. the cable that would normally be connected from the SE kit to the extension speaker is then connected via this connector. The appropriate plug is available from skoda part no. 3B7035447B. I'm about to order one myself.

If it turns out that you have an older radio, all is not lost though. Your SE hands free kit may also have come with a item called 'advanced music mute' which is a box that connects to the car speaker connector (II) and basically hijacks your car speakers when you take or receive a call. If this didn't come with your kit you can either stick with the standard single speaker that is supplied or buy the advanced music mute separately for about

Good luck Stu - this is what my parents are getting me for Christmas, so I'll be out fitting it on Boxing Day

Does the Furby use CAN-BUS? I have bugger all connections on my radio if you look at the picture and yet the radio displays info from the trip computer, parking sensors, climate control and all the usual radio & CD stuff. CAN-BUS uses just 2 pins I think to carry all that info including signals from the steering wheel audio controls.

Just done a bit of digging and it turns out the radio connector I have is called Quadlok. It is used by a lot of german and french manufacturers now apparently.

No the Fabia doesn't use CAN.

I'll have a trawl through the skodacommunity.de forums and see if anything turns up.

Sio Communicationd do a Quadlok adapter to allow Plug and play of my Parrot Bluetooth kit. It's

Looking through the German forum it would appear that they all use pins 7 and 12 without problem. I'll order the plugs and see how it goes.
