Vrs head removal

Is there a guide anywhere? Need to get my glowplugs tapped as some inbred cross threaded them

Edited by OMP

You can tap 'em in place if you fill the tap with sticky grease to catch the swarf, any fine alloy powder dropping into the cylinder will just blow through without damaging the engine when you run it.

Hmm not really fond of that tbh... There is a glow plug snapped off anyway

I've done it many times on spark plug threads, it's fine and dandy, however hardly relevant if you've snapped a glowplug already since you'll have to take the head to get it spark eroded out.

I have most stuff off now apart from the diesel pp and the one water pipe and the loom at the front of the head... Any tips on the pump and the loom?

Also how do I lock the timing? I was mid cambelt change so crank is locked and there is a pin in the cam gear

Then it's locked already so no need to worry.

Start here and keep clicking 'Next' in the bottom right-hand corner until you find what you need. You'll have to kill the 'Donate' pop-ups on a fairly frequent basis too, unless you donate, I guess.

Does anyone know if I have To prime fuel pump etc on reinstallation if the head? If so how?

It's self-priming, cranking the engine will do it for you.

it does state in the manual that you need to use a vacuum pump on the return line to draw diesel into the pump, but as above mine primed itself easy enough just starting the engine.

Works best if you make sure everything is full of diesel e.g. if you have changed the fuel filter - top it up before trying to start. It can take a lot of cranking to push any air through and out of the system so give the starter  a break every 30 secs or so. Or buy one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/8-mm-Fuel-Transfer-Vacuum-Emergency-Hand-Syphon-Refueling-Pump-Diesel-Oil-Water-/261229957522?hash=item3cd284d192
