Auto up/down window not working on one window only

Featured Replies

Hello all, most questions I can answer by looking through other posts but I seem to be a little stumped here

So first I'll set the scene, I have a 2009 FL petrol Octavia VRS. A couple of days ago it was warm and I was about to go out, so held down the key fob to make all windows go down, all went down fine. I then got a bit side tracked so put them all up again using the key fob, all the windows went up other than the drivers side rear. So quickly jumped in car, turned ignition on and pushed the controls on the drivers door to make it go up, the auto up didn't work but would go up if I held the button down. Same result if I used the button on the rear door. All other windows still go up/down fully by them selfs.

So what have I done before coming on here;

I know that a low battery can cause strange things in these cars so left my car on charge for a day and a bit (got a bike too so no bother getting to work) When the battery charger said full I tried again with the same result. Thought maybe a little drive would help so went out and came back, still same thing.

Maybe there is some resistance on the glass stopping it working? So I cleaned all the rubber seals as well as the bits inside which you can get to with the window fully down, still same result. No sounds from it, and it goes up/down just as fast as the other rear window.

Not sure where to go from here, it still fully drops with the key fob, but doesn't go back up. Auto up/down work on all other windows but can only 'manually' move the drivers side rear.

While not a major fault I know is still a little annoying!

Any ideas would be great

Cheers

Rusty

You probably just need to 'reset' the window. I think you just lower the window fully using the drivers side control, hold it for a couple of seconds when fully down, and then the same for closing the window. Job done!

This needs be done whenever the battery is disconnected as it looses its up and down reference points, so if youve had a low battery i reckon thats whats happened to yours :-)

Thank you Mr G, I will give that a go!

Edit: Just did what you said and it seems to be working again, thank you so much!
