1.6 TDI Estate - nearside rear foglamp

Featured Replies

Hi all, is there a way of setting up a nearside rear foglamp on my 2011 estate.

I have always preferred and had two foglamps on the rear (although only need to use them two or three times a year). On my previous Octavia I this was a matter of buying a lhd rear light unit and putting a suitable bulb in the bottom space. The II is a different setup altogether of course.

Thanks,

Quentin G

You need to find someone with VCP or dealer software to enable it.

Thanks everyone, maybe I will ask the Skoda specialist (former dealer) where I got it. He was willing to configure stuff but I didn't think of this one at the time.

Otherwise I'll have to wait until I am next near Whitby!

I'd be very surprised if a dealer or Skoda specialist will do this.

Assuming they have the standard dealer equipment it's not obvious, there are no guided functions for it nor is it just a check box somewhere. It requires editing the memory of the BCM directly and changing a single bit of the lighting config eeprom. This is protected by a login code that they also probably won't have.

If a mistake it made it can have very bad consequences for the BCM...

Ask them exactly what tools they have available to them, if it's ODIS-e (not ODIS) then I can throw some instructions together for them to follow. Otherwise I think it should be possible via VAS but I haven't tried using it for this mod yet.

I'm slightly closer in Cambridge if you're ever up this way.

Thanks very much for the information and the offer, only just logged back in. When I spoke to them before seeing your reply they said they thought they should be able to do it; but they also thought they could disable the 'depress clutch' interlock and it transpired they couldn't. Given the possible consequences I might leave it until I can get to you or to Whitby.

It was so easy on my Octavia 1!

Yeah, I've not seen anyone remove the clutch interlock either.

If you let me know what diagnostics software they have I'll try and get a guide put together for them - if it's possible.
