Mp3/sound recorder

Featured Replies

Hi Guys.

Anyone know of a simple to operate (and prefferably free) sound recorder/editor that I can use to cut/edit MP3s with?

I really like the simplicity of the windows built in sound recorder and the 'cut before' & 'cut after' functions.

All I want to do is record sounds/music from CD's/DVD's and put them on my phone as MP3's for ringtones/message tones etc.

Cheers, John.

Theres one that comes with nero. I suppose thats free if you have bought nero. Also cooledit was always good and they used to do a shareware version. I would confirm that, but just about to have dinner and cant be ar$ed to type it into google.

Found the cooledit thing, looks to be perfect for my needs but wont seem to download, when i click 'download' it says 'the page cannot be found' guess i'll keeps trying!! hope you enjoy your dinner!!!

Cooledit is no more. Syntrillium have been bought by Adobe, and now if you look at Adobe Audition, it looks remarkably similar to Cooledit ;)

If your "source" you want to compress is are audio CDs or DVDs, then you can "rip" the sound digitally off the CD rather than record it through the line in of your soundcard. But editing is still a valid point, especially from DVDs :)

I do have Adobe Audition and it is great for editing, but alas, not free. I'll have to take a look at audacity

Wavepad by NCH swift sound...you can edit MP3's wavs etc to cut bits out and save the sections directly as MP3 etc.
